SMPA maintains and monitors two Facebook groups:

If you request access to either of these groups, please email the webmaster with a quick description of who you are so we can approve your request.

  • The Marching Band Group. – This group is available to anyone in the SHS music community.  This is where kids can ask questions (for example  “what time is practice?”), where squad leaders can make announcements (“colorguard, don’t forget – early practice on…”), and where pictures can be shared.

If you’re not sure what a Facebook group is, keep reading.

What Facebook says about groups: “Groups provide a closed space for small groups of people to communicate about shared interests.”

What Wikipedia says about groups:  “Groups allow members to post content such as links, media, questions, events, editable documents, and comments on these items.  Groups are used for collaboration and allow discussions, events, and numerous other activities. They are a way of enabling a number of people to come together online to share information and discuss specific subjects.”

Both of our groups are “closed,” which means that the group and it’s members are visible to the public but their posts and comments are not visible until the user has joined the group.
