Sultan High School Music Parents Association Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Meeting called to order at 7:07pm.

After everyone introduced their selves Carolyn Walker passed around and discussed the budget. Jon Pardue updates the budget report at the music parents web site each month and has agree to continue doing this, but would appreciate some help with this. If you are willing to help please contact Jon at the sultan music parent website.

Band Camp:
Band camp starts Tuesday the 18th, squad leaders and Mrs. Sumpter will be at the school on Monday the 17th. We have sign up sheets for helping in the kitchen at band camp and also help with fitting uniforms to kids.
At 4:00pm on Saturday the 22nd the kids will perform what they have learned so far followed by a BBQ in the courtyard.
Wednesday night 6:00pm at band camp we will have a food handler's class the cost is ten dollars and is available to anyone needing a food handler card.

Donations:
We are looking to businesses for donations. If there are any that you know of we have a form letter written up explaining who we are and what we do. It also has our tax number included. Barbara Schmidt is looking for someone with younger students to go around to businesses with her looking for donations to get an idea of how easy it is.
We need about 20 pizzas for band camp and someone to go to the various pizza places around asking for donations, Wendy Spitzer has agreed to do this.
If you do get a donation from someone or someplace please remember to get their info so that we will be able to send out thank you notes.

Volunteering:
Anyone who would like to chaperone on trips needs to fill out a criminal history form and turn it in to the office. These are good for two years before they need to be updated.

Lemonade/Pizza Stand:
We need helpers for the Pizza/Lemonade Stand at the fair, including students. Students will be able to use these hours for their community service that they will need for school.

The next band parent meeting is September 8th with the first home football game performance on the 11th. Wendy Spitzer has said that she knows people that she can ask about donating some bigger wheel for our carts and xylophone stands.
