Sultan High School Music Parents Association Meeting Minutes

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Meeting called to order at 7:02pm.

Carolyn started with the financial report, which is available on the Music Parent's web site.

Thanks to everyone who has been helping with the Friday night football games. For the Field Shows we need about 4 people for the big props, 2 for the car, and 2 for the drum major stand. We need to get a list for Scott Sifferman of who is working at half time with the band at the football games.

Thanks to all of the volunteers that helped at the Silverdale show. Carolyn Walker would like someone to help out with getting food from Costco for various events since she will not be here next year.

We need to remember to be positive at the performances regarding other bands. Remember that our kids are near and they hear what we are saying.

Football game Friday the 16th; it's not a school day, but we will be there. Please encourage your children to get their homework done.

Tumwater this weekend is an early show. For the Yakima show we will be leaving very early and getting back very late. At the Everett show we will not be feeding the kids lunch or dinner so they will need to bring money or food.

We'll need three chaperones per bus for Yakima. Auburn; November 7th , need to decide what to do for the dinner, potluck or what. We would like someone to chair this; we'll help and show what to do. This can be more than one person. Jill would like to do chili.

We also need "understudies" to work with Barbara Schmidt for the Chili Feed/Winter Concert. Every student needs to bring a pie. Regina Taylor suggested that we send a personal invitation to everyone who donated to Band Camp.

We got 4th Street for the Adopt a Street program. Kids can get volunteer hours for this. The cost is $30.00 for a sign. The sign needs to have our name (the music parents) not the school or the district as the donators. Anyone over the age of 18 needs to sign the volunteer agreement, they'll issue yellow bags for trash; leave them by your garbage on pick up days.

Suzanne Whitbeck moved to spend the $30.00 for the sign; Regina Taylor seconded, motion passed.

Gordie and Brian are working with several parents with large truck to pull the trailer.

Anyone with band pictures from various events please send them to Jon Pardue for the web site.

February the district will be looking for a replacement levy. The band parents have, in the past, been asked to help with this.

We need a new large ice chest. The Pardues have donated theirs and also their large urn. Thank you Kris and Jon.

Bronn Journey concerts; we make "Bronnies" to sell at these shows and the kids will be performing at one of the shows.

We will not be doing the Thanksgiving Day Parade this year as Mrs. Sumpter did not get enough of the notices back. Mrs. Sumpter will put it in next year's calendar.

Meeting adjourned at 7:49pm.
